Go here to read all about them both, including a listing of differences and similarities.I'll admit my ignorance here-- what's the difference between GI and Mil-Spec?
The lowered and flared ejection port does not aid in reliability. It does allow the brass to be ejected to the side rather than straight up. This helps prevent brass from contacting the shooter. The flare on the port helps prevent deformed casings. On a GI port, the brass hits the rear of the port, deforming the mouth of the case. Reloaders don't care for that.I heard that one variant of the GI 1911's (I thought it was RIA or High Standard) has a lower ejection port that adds to the reliability.
Yep. with the SA, reliable. Read the range reports. No failures since they were written. I have no direct experience with the RIA.Anyone here with first hand experience with the SA and RIA care to vouche for reliability? Including use of hollowpoints?
