Springfield Jr Model 50 (Made by Page & Lewis) .22LR Rifle - Help finding firing pin?

Hi All,

I just purchased a Springfield Jr Model 50. I believe this rifle was made by Page & Lewis prior to their acquisition by Stevens/Savage. Anyway, it's missing the firing pin.

I've been looking and can't seem to find a firing pin specific to the Springfield Jr Model 50. Does anyone know if Page & Lewis or Savage/Stevens used the same firing pin or bolt assembly in another model rifle that I could reference for spare parts?

I have seen this same rifle in a Savage Or Stevens, but cant remember the model number.
But any Gunsmith worth his salt, can easily make you a firing pin.
Question:
What is wrong with the original firing pin ?

The original firing pin is missing.

Even with the firing pin missing, a good gunsmith can figure out how it has to be shaped and made to work.
I have had to do it several times on Old 22's and it is not a Big Deal, it just takes some time and a little trial and error.
I usually make a Dummy part first out of a Workable material like Brass, then remake the final part out of the needed Material like steel.

Have you called over to Jack First Guns in South Dakota to see if they can help you with the Model Number conversion and the Parts ?

Yes, I agree. I did find someone else with the exact same model who offered to take his to a local gunsmith and pattern a new firing pin off of his working one. I'm going to try that route first. My local gunsmith has also offered to look at the rifle and attempt to make one without a pattern. Out of curiosity. Any idea how much this normally costs for a gunsmith to do this?

The cost all depends on if he just charges an Hourly Rate like most shops, or if you find someone like me that likes to work on guns and loves a simple challange.
I can not see it taking more than an Hours time to actually Make the pin, it is the Trial and Error fitting that consumes all your time, taking the gun apart and putting it back together to check function.
Have him just give you an estimate and a Not to Exceed Price before you start.
