I recently asked about the Tanfoglio and TriStar CZ clones compared to the CZ 75. One post jogged my memory of the Springfield P9. Anyone know how the Springfield version compared to the original and ongoing CZ 75?

To the best of my knowledge, Springfield P9 is a Tanfoglio. It was just imported and branded under Springfield instead of EAA Witness that we have today. Same way that the HS2000 and the Sprindfield XD are the same. Springfield just imports them under their own name.

Had one in .40 S&W. Well made with a nice overall fit and finish. Very comparable to what you would find with a CZ today.

Springfield imported the parts from Tanfoglio and assembled and finished them in Illinois.
The fit and finish was a step above the Tanfoglio import pistols of the same period.

I owned a black parkerized version that was a really great 9mm auto.
