The guns in .223, as well as 7.62x39 and 5.45x39, are usually lighter and handier, and are a lot easier to shoot quickly with, since you dont have to deal with the weight and recoil of the heavier .308's. You also usually have 30% more rounds in the gun.please tell me the advantages of .223 vs .308 at close range ?
At closer ranges, the .223 isnt the big slacker the .30 people always tell you it is. True, the .30 might punch through some things the .223 wont, but if someone in behind "cover", its probably really not going to matter what you have.
I think part of the problem here in understanding this, is how and where most people shoot. Take away the bench, and make them shoot on their feet, while moving and at targets that are moving, and a whole new perspective emerges.
Put multiple targets of various sizes, at various distances and covering the clock from 8-4 in front of someone, and then stress them with a short time limit, and see what they do better with.
