Hey y'all!! It has been way too long since I've done any squirrel or other varmint hunting. Can any of you, my THR brethren, suggest any places in/near Collin County, TX that would let me get a day of squirrel (or other pest) hunting in this month (May)? Ideally, some place where I could use my Savage Mark II 22 rifle to take the squirrels, as I don't bow hunt and I'm not crazy about shotgun squirrel hunting. If you've got land with problem hogs, I've got rifles for that, too.

I'm extremely safety-oriented, cautious and responsible. I'm in my 30s, proud dad, etc. I won't do anything stupid to anger a landowner or to land myself in jail. Thus the reason I'm asking now, rather than explaining later. :)

Please feel free to PM me, if you don't want to plaster the info for all the world to see. :)

Thanks y'all!!

Wish I could help ya out - with the way the Mess-troplex is expandin they'll be in Oklahoma before too long lol

Collin county hunting

Buy a LOT of land or pay ~$1000 a year for a lease! Collin and Rockwall county politicians got law passed ( for land developers) to ELIMINATE use of weapons on private or public land under 50 acres - state wide. NRA official didn't say a thing at the hearings. This year they want to be able to carry where private citizens can't -- and we pay for their bodyguards.

The way the bill is written it only applies to municipalities in Collins County. It prohibits them from prohibiting shooting on tracts of land over 100 acres that were annexed before 9/1/1981.

It most assuredly does not prohibit shooting on all tracts under 50 acres state-wide.
