I have a 3-9x32 Simmons scope on a Marlin bolt rifle as my squirrel rifle. It usually stays at 3x but does get turned up for longer shots sometimes. And I'm also a head shot kinda guy. There's not much meat to begin with so blowing half of it away doesn't appeal much to me.

A truglo 2power red dot or iron sights is the most fun. I understand the fun in shooting them with a nice scope for target practice but for plain fun and skill check iron sights are a blast.

killed many a squirrel in my younger days with open sight .22, squirrel dumplings were great, cant bring myself to kill them anymore....we were poor and hungry then.

TexasPatriot, I too hunted them as a kid because we were poor. It helped put meat on the table.

And I understand your reluctance to kill the little rats now.

But there's just nothing as good as squirrel meat.

Will hunt them again.

And, as it turns out, I'm still poor,
so it seems justified.
