I finally had enough of a break in a busy work schedule to take my first shots with my long anticipated Ruger SR 1911. As I said a week or so ago, the fit and finish are excellent. I have spent some time familiarizing myself with the weapon and today was range day.

I fired 200 rounds of 230 grain WWB FMJ. No failures of any kind. Every shot cycled perfectly. Considering that this is my first outing with the platform, I can certainly admit that I need some practice but, all in all, I don't think I did too badly. The target pictured is just from a normal two handed grip at 25 feet.

My next pictures will be better, I hope. I am more than satisfied with my new pistol. It was worth the wait.

Ok, the picture was pretty bad. I will re-post it shortly

I think other people have shot mine more than me.:)

Friends have shot it and the local gun store manager has requested several times that I bring it in for customers to see and shoot it.

A lady friend I recently taught to shoot is deadly with the gun.:)

As I recently said in another SR 1911 Thread, if you don't already have one of these guns, you need to pull as many strings and do as many favors as you can to get one. I've had mine for a year now (best impulse buy I've ever made), and continue to be impressed with it. The group you posted looks very similar to most of the groups I shoot. Skeptics will try to tell you that a 1911 should shoot one inch groups at that distance...but for the total package that the Ruger offers - which include, but are not limited to: An extremely tight slide-to-frame construction, good 5.5 lbs. trigger, ALL stainless, ALL American Made, two magazines, etc... - I can't imagine a better bang for you buck. Some might disagree, but I consider the Ruger a High End 1911.

Oh! I almost forgot...it eats EVERYTHING. Round nose, flat nose, hollowpoint, it just doesn't matter. I tried and tried to make it fail, but couldn't. With the slide locked open, I slammed a full magazine in over and over, until the top round was only half held by the magazine. The bullet (a Winchester hollowpoint, I might add) was almost sticking out over the ejection port, and STILL went into battery when I dropped the slide.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOO RUGER!

I got the chance to shoot 2 SR1911's today, one a co-worker/Club Member whom got his Friday and another Shooting Club Member whom got his Saturday. We all were at the Club today, and I got to try out both of them. While niether had any issues, I couldn't shoot them as well as my Kimber, not bashing the Rugers, just couldn't shoot them as well. Maybe given some more range time I could get used to either one. FWIW comparing Ruger to Ruger, one of them had a bit better trigger than the other, and it showed as my group was tighter. LM

Longhair did you have any problems with the 7 or the 8 round mags that came with your gun, At all.? I bought a couple of Trips 7 rd cobra mags to use as my EDC with my SR1911 gun.
