Sr 1911?

Good luck. I paid for one in full last June to get 2nd on the dealers list. Everytime I think about just telling them to give me a refund and I'll go elsewhere I read this forum and several others. It's a widespread problem. I'm going to hang in there. I'm in no rush.

Every time I read a post like this on any forum, I'm glad I had my LGS order me one as soon as it was announced. I had it in my hand with-in a week and now they can't get one from any of their resources.

This is like trying to find a Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 after they were first released. If you did not get one early, you are going to have to wait or find someone on an auction website trying to sell them. i have a feeling in about a year you will be able to find them at most LGS.

Yep. In a years time they'll probably still be selling pretty well, but it'll be a case of just buying one if you want it.

I think part of the drive here is that not only is it a brand new 1911 from a major American firm, but it's also the centennial of the 1911. Sales of that model in general are up, and how cool would it be to have a gun made on the 100 year anniversary of the design made on the first year of introduction from this particular manufacturer?

It somewhat disappoints me as even though I want one too, with this kind of order backlog Ruger isn't likely to introduce many new product offerings until these are done. I'm really wanting a long-slide version of the SR9 or SR40 but they'll never introduce them so long as the assembly lines are full taking orders for the 1911's :).

I have had one on order for months....funny you can find spare magazines for them. dont do you much good if you aint got the weapon to use them in.

Anyone know where I can find one of these other than gun broker?
In my gun safe, that's probably not the answer you were looking for. I went into my LGS last month and they had one. I was fortunate, I'm trying to find one for a friend and haven't had any luck.

Ruger built a whole new production line for these pistols which usually entails an expansion and likely additional workers. I've heard demand is greatly outpacing production but who can blame them for not putting too many eggs in one basket.

For now, if you don't have one you could pass the time feeling sorry for the guys waiting on the Kimber Solo or the new Bren Ten.

Go to a bigger retailer like Cabelas. They should be able to get one if they dont have one on-hand.

Kittery Trading post in southern Maine had them this spring (they are a very big volume dealer for New England) and I would think that they should still have them.

Smaller gun shops...not so much.

even that is hit or miss, at my store (Academy) i made sure to make our basic stock level a minimum of 2 and even after emailing Ruger, they simply told us that they are trying to fill previous orders and most of the retail chains are last on the list.

I was at a gun store a few weeks ago and asked if they'd had any in their shop. He said they got one, it was sold in a matter of hours, and they haven't seen another one since.

I'm also on a waiting list.

I will probably be getting one of these with my next years tax return. Ruger is my favorite manufacturer and I've been looking to get a decent 1911 for a while. They are supposedly going to be making a compact model as well.

I saw a used one for sale at the LGS yesterday. I was surprised to see one at all, much less a used one.

Bringing this back from the dead...my usual shop had 15 and they sold - fast! They had another 12 in stock last weekend and within a couple days of me mentioning it on the Ruger forum, they were gone. I do know they're expecting another 12 or so soon. They've priced them at $669 I think.

The only ones I've seen were on display at the Ruger booth in April at the NRA event in Pittsburgh. Very nice!
I'd really like to get an SR1911 but gave up waiting and picked up a Colt & SA instead. Maybe someday...

We got 5 of the SR1911 back in August and,we won't get anymore till March. The reason is,,,,,,, ruger only makes 50-70 per day. Even when they are working 24-7 to get them out. Out of the 5 we got at the shop,I kept one for me because I am a Ruger collector and am waiting for a commander and compact size .45 SR1911.

I passed up an offer to buy NIB last week at a local dealer. $750. One of the employees bought it and it now rides on his hip. It looked okay but nothing special. I don't own a 1911 and can't quote specs and nuance but it didn't seem to be anything special except for the difficulty of finding one. With so many other manufacturers producing them why is the Ruger so special? And if they are "all that" then why not offer a carry sized model? I mean normal people carry, not Sasquatch with a western duster carry.

I'm on a waiting list for one now too, along with two other guys. Got the price negotiated down to $590 assuming ruger doesn't change their pricing by the time they come in. Dad and a buddy want one too, maybe we'll get a better deal yet when we tell our guy that we want 5 instead of 3! Until then, just wait and try not so spend the money on anythng else...

The gun show I was at today one...for $800!!!!!!
I've seen them popping up a gun stores around here. If you can wait until summer I bet you'll be able to get one most anywhere for below retail.

$800.00? I hope they buy you dinner. I'll bet within a few months they'll be popping up everywhere at reasonable prices.

Looked it up on the computer at work and academy does not seem to be getting any till some time in 2012. They are priced at $699 so it is not a bad deal. Don't know how much longer i will be working there but i am trying not to quit before my store gets one so i can use my discount lol.
