Has anyone used the Galloway Smooth It Trigger Kit #4? I have an early SR9 (330 prefix). The trigger really smoothed out after a few hundred rounds then I installed the Ghost Ultimate trigger bar and it helped even more but the trigger is still a little heavier than I'd like at 5.2#. Since I already have the Ghost bar I'm thinking about kit #3. I'm just not convinced the springs that are in that kit will do much for the pull weight.

We feel the same way you do, but the guys here love them. http://rugerforum.net/ruger-pistols/

If you're SR9 is a carry piece, a lighter trigger is often not a good idea. My wife owns three SR guns and the triggers are already a tad on the light side for my comfort. Even Hickok45 talks about this.

I understand that very well and explain it to my students. First, it's not what I carry. 5.2# average is by no means too light, especially if using the safety, which I do. My EDC, a Shield, is 6.6# and I use the safety on it. My 442 is at 10# and I'm leaving it at that since there is no safety. My personal use preferences are different than what I would suggest for an inexperienced shooter. The reason I asked this question is because I wrote Galloway with hopes of getting a bit more of a technical answer. But the reply was pretty much just a repeat of what's online. The kits are designed to lighten and smooth the pull. As I mentioned, I have the Ghost Rocket in it now. Is that the main reason the Smooth It kits work? It the $45 for kit #3 worth it. Adding that to the Ghost I already have takes me to kit #4.

Then for you I'd think it to be a no-brainer.

I'm going to give it a try. I think it will be interesting to see the difference. It's clear that both springs come into play when pulling the trigger. I'll even try just the springs with the stock indicator and plunger then replace them to see if it improves more.
