Staccato or Atlas?

I shoot at 25-50 yards with the occasional 100 yard practice on silhouette targets.

Staccato or Atlas; you are looking at Internet Specials.
Check out Accuracy X. They are the only manufacturer I have seen recommended for bullseye shooters besides specialist gunsmith accuracy jobs.

Found picture of AccuracyX and target. Show me yours, Atlas and Staccato.

And here is a 100 yard 'toob.

Atlas.

The Staccatos grip safety is unacceptable on a 2011. Belongs on a Fudd 1911, not a modern competition pistol.

Staccato plus a Cheely grip frame, is cool, but doesn't line up perfectly.

CZ > 2011 though. I'd rather have a Ts2.

Not really any more.

But heaven forbid if I have to replace a $30 drop in thumb safety.

But how about mag reliability? Cost? Magwell and grip, custom availability? CZ has the 2011 beat there.

Forgot to add, check out the Bul Armory 2011s. Their Ultimate Racer models are excellent and decently priced. A friend shoots the UR Shorty version for open division, does very well.

Bul Government 9mm Shoots OK… Just average so far with my test load far.

124gn Berry RN with Universal 1.150 Col

Also, the Atlas pistols you picked, don't seem to make sense.

Pick a more open 3 gun version, like the Erebus, if you don't compete where strict rules make compensators illegal. If you're going to pay Atlas levels of money, go whole Hog and get their rarest, most unique, models.

The plain jane Athena does nothing that a Ts2, Shadow 2, or DWX can't do just as well. So you're wasting money IMO.

Interesting. Thank you guys. I already have a Shadow 2 Orange and a TS2. Both exceptional pistols. Is there truly nothing better? If not I’ll rest my hand and be happy. I don’t have a DWX but can get one locally; been eyeing it for awhile.

just get the Big Dog Staccato and the best optic out there!

Then you would have no excuses for “mikes” on the target! jk! let shoot a match someday! we can squad up

Well no. There’s something to be said for the quality and glass like smoothness of Atlas. It’s night and day from a quality standpoint compared to CZ and even quite a bit better than Dan Wesson.

Besides the 2011 is just a great design that isn’t duplicated in the CZ’s or even the DWX.

Thanks guys. I like the debate and benefit from it. It’s a big purchase. What about the Nighthawk Firehawk? I am going to see one on Wednesday. Grip safety has never bothered me on 1911s so it’s a non-issue. Atlas does seem to have a superb reputation except for the owner’s indiscretion (more information needed on this?). My Nighthawk was FUBAR out of the box but they made it right, and now I have their custom shop manager on speed dial and we exchange Christmas cards. 2011, 2.5lb trigger, fast and flat shooting, stunning accuracy, under $6k. That’s my huckleberry right now. Staccato is way under that and if they fit the criteria, well, that’ll do, pig.

got rent a Staccato and try man. it feels funny because of the lack of weight, and a fat grip too

We'll have to agree, to disagree.

I only care about holes on the target. Not smoothness, bling, or glass.

If an Atlas really truly shot better, I'd have 2 of them. I think the CZ is a better mousetrap. Shame that they don't have an open division pistol.

Plenty of reports of Czechmates w/ broken barrels, lousy reliability.

The XC is an excellent tool for the job.

Atlas quality and durability far exceeds CZ. Higher quality parts, no MIM, better fit, etc.

As far as which shoots better, I find my Atlas pistols to have better balance and a far better trigger than any CZ I own.

CZ pistols shoot very well and the design is outstanding, but even that awesome design is far better executed by some other companies.

Just the plain truth of it. I love CZ pistols and own many, but they are far from the cream of the crop.

There’s a Parrot for sale near me NIB. It’s very nice but a bit blingy and I don’t think it’ll do anything that my current pistols won’t. I’ll look at Accuracy X. Any more thoughts on the Firehawk? I’m going to see one tomorrow.

Noice! The one I’ll be looking at has either a black nitride or DLC finish and is a single stack 9mm. I’d prefer a double stack but maybe not? It also has mammoth ivory grip panels. It’s a looker.

Not considering Czechmate for Open?

There are none. CZ dropped the Czechmate.

Rumors of a Czechmate 2 being developed. But as slow as their other pistols and rifles have been making it to the US, I wouldn't hold my breath.

If it does happen, I'll get one. The Ts2 style trigger and grips (Lok and Lok magwell) work better for me than the 2011 types (give or take the Cheely E frame, which is vaporware).

Stop buying all that go fast 2X stack 1/2 Plastic.. Get another NK man

There are new Czechmates out there, even Buds shows them in stock. Has anyone mentioned Phoenix Arms? I know bac has a bunch, better than CZ and a similar platform.
