Stag handle repair

I just picked up a unused S&W SW5 fixed blade knife I gotta great buy on it because there is a hairline crack in the stag handle. I'm thinking of using thin CA type super glue the type used for wood to wick into the crack to make sure it doesn't go any further.
Think it will work?

Yes, it will. If you have a spare piece of stag or bone handy you can file off some dust to add to the mixture, also. Knifemakers do this all the time to repair cracks in wood, bone, stag and even ivory.

I've never used super glue.. but I have used the 2 ton or the 5 minute two part epoxy.

Either can be sanded or smoothed down afterward.

and plus 1 on the mixing in of matching material.

I use Hot Stuff CYA to seal end grain on deer antler handles.

I have also used it for crack repair on stag & ivory.

It works very well.

That Hot Stuff CYA is what I was thinking about, missed the Y. I used to build wood RC planes with it fumes were bad but it worked great,

Use the Hot Stuff Thin version of the glue because it is designed to wick right into and fill cracks. If you use something too thick, you will only be bonding close to the surface area.
