Stag Model 2 ?

Is this a decent starter AR? Been wanting to pick one up recently, and the local shop in town stocks these for $850

In 5.56, 16" CL barrel. Seems pretty stout, with well made compenents. I'm not looking for long range shots, just plinking and maybe coyote hunting. I'm just wanting something durable, and that will cycle smoothly. Budget no more than $1000

I own the model 3. The Stag will serve you just fine for your intended purposes.

I just sold a Stag 2. It was a good rifle all around. Functioned 100% with several reloads, steel cased, and brass cased ammo. I probably had close to 2,000 rounds through mine. I never put a scope on it, but I did have a Vortex Strikefire mounted. It was as accurate as you could hope for with a red dot. I will actually miss that rifle. I think that you would do well with the Stag for 850 NIB.
