I have put together a pretty good collection so far, but after listening to alot of people's posts I am under the impression that no gun cabinet should be without a good shotgun. I have been looking but have not seen anything I really like. I have a love of stainless and was wondering if such a beast exists in a shotgun for under the $1200 price tag I am seeing on some guns with stainless actions. I cannot afford that much money.

Greeting's Sir-

Certainly, while not stainless why don't you checkout the Remington 12 GA
870 Marine Magnum? Its a matte nickel finish pump gun designed for any
type of hostile environments like around salt water and such. I sell these
guns NIB for $469.88, and I have one stoked with Federal's #6 shot, and
backed with that company's #4 buckshot sitting in my safe right now~!:D

i have an 870 Marine Magnum (electroless Nickel) with a pistolgrip-shoulder stock loaded with 3" 000 buck next to the bed... they even come vwith a factory 3 shot extension tube...

Man, that Marine 870 would look perfect in the gun cabinet next to my Weathermaster 7400.
<Must resist urge to buy>

Mossberg 500 Mariner. Probably much less $$ than the Rem 870. My boss has one and it's quite impressive (on both ends)...

Second vote for Mossberg 500a Mariner. My wife has one for an HD gun. We managed to pick a used one up for $160 IIRC. MSRP is $512. :D

Check out the Ruger Red Label stainless.

I may be mistaken, but I don't remember seeing any stainless repeaters. The Rem, Win and Moss repeaters are all plated/coated, IIRC. Note that they may actually be more corrosion-resistant than real stainless, btw.

Ruger Red Label is all I can think of, and it's the only all-stainless shottie I've ever seen in person.

The guy who owns it says that it occasionally rusts around the rib somewhere. Probably whatever metal was used to braze it, IMHO. He likes it in general. I have some reservations about how it feels to me. He shoots trap MUCH better with a BT-99, which is all I've seen him with lately.

I have searched extensively for any stainless shotguns and only found 3
Ruger Red Label over/under
Browning BT 100 stainless(now discontinued) single shot trap
Flodman shotgun

I was interested in the Flodman because I could find nothing other than their web site www.flodman.com and sent a email asking about dealers and prices. I recieved a very nice response from the president and owner of the company. Unfortunately these guns are custom made to order and are in the realm of the Kriegoff and Kolar and the new Blazer, a plain uningraved field model with custom fitting would be approximately $11500.
Too much for me, but it is nice to dream.

I can't understand why their aren't any stainless pumps or autos.

I would buy a stainless Mossberg 500 in a minute and have sent them emial suggestions to do so.

Don't forget the Winchester Model 1200 Police model that was available in stainless steel, and the Model 1300 Stainless Security guns.

These are not to be confused with the later Model 1300 Stainless Marine which was actually plated.

As I recall, about the only actual stainless part was the barrel.

Perhaps a Benelli Nova H2O? benova002.jpg
Got mine OTD for $476. Not SS but a nice matte nickel marine gun.

I'd love to get the BT-100, but probably wouldn't have the cash for it. Come to think of it, I believe I've seen one of those, too, a while back.

Browning seems to make small runs of stainless guns on a whim, then stop making them, just to frustrate those of us who see the gun but then find out we can't get one ourselves!:)

If you are willing to go with the .410 or 28, check out the snake charmer II. Refer to the IM I sent you:)

I am debating now between the Nova H2O (stainless bolt, plated barrel i believe), or the winny 1300 stainlees (all stainless with nickel plateing, and alum. receiver)...

pro: nova is 3.5" and new design
winny is a part of history and us made...

Price is similar give or take

PP I share your desire for a Stainless SG and have narrowed it down to either a Remm. 870 Marine Mag. or a Mossberg Mariner. Both are great guns in their own rights.Which ever one shows up first and is a good enough deal will be the one that follows me home.Good luck in your search.tom.
