Stains on Blued Finish? Experienced opinions please!

Thanks Craig, I agree!!! I was wondering if I'm just crazy, or if things are just normally that backwards! That's basically what I did when I called Cimarron today, I figured if Ford's doesn't care about their reputation, Cimarron must. They seemed to genuinely care, and said they would 'get on it.' I'll call 'em back in a day or two to see if I can get any idea on when the heck I might have this gun together again.

S.B. Steve could you elaborate on that response at all?

Cimarron doesn't do the finish, but the people that do are acting like I'm a last-in-line customer, when they screwed it up to begin with.

Maybe there are a lot of people in line ahead of you having their screwed-up guns fixed too. Just a thought, although not a good one.

John that scary thought definitely occurred to me! But I asked Ford's if that was the case, and they gave me a confused answer that implied that it wasn't the case, they just had their priorities out of order.

The cowboys at SASS discovered the movie, The Wild Bunch that takes place on the Texas/Mexican border around 1914. Since some actors in the flick had what were supposed to be 1911 Colt .45 pistols it was decided that they also could become part of Cowboy Action Shooting.

The guys at Cimarron are not about to be left out of a new market.

I was responding to Craigc's comment about Cimarron, didn't know how they came up in this conversation?
Then I would refer you to posts #5 and #6. The gun in question is a Cimarron.

For what it's worth, I sent in my Cimarron 1911 a few weeks ago (to Cimarron) to fix a slightly rough feeding problem and also a blemish on the blued frame. Cimarron has been very helpful, they've finished the feed problem and are about to send it to Ford's. I'll let you know if it goes any quicker (though one of the guys at Cimarron said it usually takes about 6 weeks for the re-blue).

Good to know, thanks for sharing! I'm at the 6 week mark, and when I called Ford's yesterday, they tried to tell me that they've been really busy and it was going to be a 20-week turn-around. I made it clear that it was their screw-up (as politely as I could), and that I sold a gun to be able to buy this gun that they've now had for over a month. I called Cimarron after I was done talking to Ford's. Ford's never even seemed to be actually listening... so i figure maybe Cimarron can really get through to them.

Hopefully Cimarron can build a fire under their butts...as I hope they'll do for my pistol as well. They seemed pretty confident in telling me that the turn around would be about 6 weeks for the reblue. I'll be really glad to see it back though, the high polish blue sure is quite striking and was also one of the main drivers for me to choose a Cimarron (that and the classic configuration). I'll let you know how it turns and I'll be curious how it works out for you as well.

My slide ended up being at Ford's for two days shy of two months. Might have been longer if I hadn't called Cimarron to ask them about it. When I got it back, it was perfect. No unsightly stains anymore :) She's a beauty
