"I've got this old gun" where did ya see that before? Anyway it's a Star 9mm, it shows S.A. CAL. 9m/mP on the left side on the right side it shows CSP and Interarms Alex, VA. I know it needs a new firing pin and I'm probably going to have to manufacture it, if I can't find some info. on where I might order a new firing pin. Any suggestions sure would help. Also on the base of the grip it has BM. Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Star BM

There were two designs on the Star BM firing pin. The one you want is the inertial firing pin ( like in the 1911). The other from what I've been told can be converted to the inertial design but left as is may be an accident waiting to happen. If memory serves me with the older style when the hammer is down the firing pin protrudes from the bolt face.

There is a member here named Sam from New Mexico that gave me the drawings for both firing pins in 2005 but I have since misplaced them. If he is still active here he probably still has them on file as he has 'smithed quite a few BMs.

Kimbernut, thanks for the info. I pulled up Star on the Internet and found the Star model BM, Got a schematic too; also I checked with Numerich Gun Parts and they didn't have any in stock, so I checked with Bob's Gun Shop in Arkansas and found a firing pin for the BM. He's a one man shop and takes quite a while to ship his items, but so far so good. Thanks again guys, I do appreciate the help.:D

Go to www.gunboards.com, click on "forums" and scroll about 2/3 down to "spanish pistols" [I think that what it's named]. Plenty of info there and a fellow named "Star" from Spain ocassionally posts. He sells parts and his email address is available there somewhere. He is apparently very trustworthy and reliable. I realize you already have the needed part but this may be helpful to you for future needs.

If you order form Bob's make sure you send him a picture or photo copy of your old pin since there are 2 designs. When I ordered mine he wanted me to send him the old one for comparison, which I was uncomfortable doing since I was only looking for a spare not a replacement. I ordered one and got the wrong one. If you pull your pin and send me a pic or photo copy of it I'll give you a deal on the one I have if it's correct, since Bob's wouldn't take it back.

When Star went out of business, Sarco bought all their parts inventory. That stuff is listed on their site and they may have the firing pin you need.
