Star Firestar 40 S&W

:DI Bought mine in 1992 and have shot a lot of ammo in it. I qualified with it as a off duty gun. I still shoot it some but it is heavy as a brick. Love it.

I have owned many Star pistols and they have all been exceptional handguns. Accurate well built and a pleasure to hold and shoot. I think they are at the very top of the heap.

As Walt said, the M-243 Firestar, aka the Firestar Plus, was neither heavy nor unreliable; with an alloy frame and a 13 rd mag, they were about the size of an HK P7, a joy to carry, and a pleasure to shoot. Wish I still had mine....

FireStar

The 45ACP was one the most accurate little 45's i've ever owned.

Heavy like a brick.

Had the 40S&W version as well and the extractor broke. Getting another was an ordeal.

When Star went under I envisioned a breakage which would never be fixed due to my previous experiance.

Traded both the 40S&W and the 45ACP and never looked back.:)

Of all the comments about the Firestar, not once did I hear anyone describe it as 'snappy' or 'punishing' at the range, so I guess all the weight did serve a purpose? ;)

I have the A-75 Astra in 9mm and bought a .40S&W upper for it. Both calibers work flawlessly. The mags are marked 9mm on one side and 40S&W on the other. It is heavy but makes the 9mm feel like a .22 and the .40S&W feels like a 9mm. Also, it's very accurate and fun to shoot.

I had a Firestar and traded it for a PD. The PD was and still is a good CC carry weapon. If I go to town it goes with me. The only time it has had a FTF was when someone new had a limp wrist. I don't use it as much since I have moved to the moutons but do shoot it about once a month.
