I haven't had a chance to try that Caldwell catcher yet. I've read where the hot cases hitting the same spot will start to melt the netting. If it does start to show signs of this happening, I don't think it will be too difficult to add (sow) a piece of leather to the problem spot.

That 3 Bucc catcher is nice. Looks more durable than the Caldwell.
Yes, occasionally a case will remain dangling inside, with a part of the case stuck to it.. with very little coaxing, it falls free. I have used my first one for a bizzillion rounds, (well an awful lot anyway) and it hasnt burned through. If it did, it would be easy to repair.

I cant tell from the Brownell video, but it looks like the 3 buck units arm that clips to the rail is fixed on one end. My scoped AR would not work if that is the case. The caldwell units arm slides from one end to another, so the rail attachment can go anywhere on the rail. Then just loosen the arms screw, slid it until in the correct position and tighten. On sale, the Caldwell unit is half the price of the 3 buc...

Have not melted mine, but if it did, Caldwell has great service and would replace it I bet.

The 3 Buc is a canvas type material, only issue other than price is it doesn't vent the "smoke, heat" so you can get a face full of it if you rapid fire, It is really heavy duty though. As mentioned if you have more than one rifle the extra rail mount is a overpriced!. Over $20 plus shipping when I bought one.

Dose the 3 bucs arm on the catcher movable? Or is it stuck on the end as shown in the Brownell video in post #20 link?

I use the Caldwell picatinny mounts on rifles where they'll fit. I also have the velcro model for those I can't fit the pic rail mount on. They work pretty well, and saves the brass chasing.
I have to laugh, though. Right after I bought the last extra mount, I stumbled across the 3buc model. The comical thing is, they are less than an hour from me and I never heard of them until then.

No it does not move like the Caldwell does. You have to find the best spot on the rifles rail to mount it.

The Caldwell gives you adjustment but it still has to be in the correct spot over the ejection port.

JMHO but for the money the Caldwell is a better buy than the 3Buc, It works well, is less money, Unless you are some real heavy duty shooter it is "good enough" Heck buy it from Brownells, if you are not happy with it return it anytime! (forever)

Rule3 pointed out a better one, but for the money this one works dandy. I cant figure out how, but once in a while one will escape at the top, but it falls at you feet.

And its on sale! You can put the rail clamp anywhere you have space on the rail. The attaching clip n the catcher can be slid back and forth to align with the rail clip thing...

That's what I am using, and your right, the time to get one is when it's on sale.

I put a Caldwell on my AR----see how it works when I get out.
I have about 3500 lake City brass (Diamond K)--new is not worth the money
