Has anyone purchased any brass from Starline recently. I checked online this afternoon. Of the half dozen I checked, all were not available. While I admit some of the calibers were not mainstream, but even the 357 was "back-ordered".

At this point you have to buy through a middle man. I was unsure until I read this. I admit I’m looking for an odd duck caliber.

They have had 2nd and 3rd shift machine operator positions posted for what seems like months. that probably has something to do with it. Glad I can get away with Milsurp brass for most of my shooting needs. I have a drawer full of Starline .44 mag, .357 mag, 10mm, 460 Rowland ordered long ago and at least 2 lifetime supplies of 9mm and .45 acp brass so I'm unaffected.

If I buy new brass it's Starline. I was able to put in a back order in July for some rifle brass in July. Got it in December. Got some .357 not long ago from one of the online vendors recently. Put in notifications everywhere I could and got it that way...

My own observation with common brass like .38 Special,.357 Magnum and .45 ACP is when backorder is I see it within a few weeks. On out of stock I just keep checking back. Right now the .357 Magnum reflects Not In Stock No Backorders. My best guess here is when a production plan is in place they know about how much brass and about when the run will be so they take backorders. Once they see the run will be sold out they go to No Backorders. I buy mostly handgun and mostly .45 ACP since I have a pile of my revolver brass. The .45 ACP ends up all over when I shoot it. I also like to buy 1,000 pieces per order when it's available.

I backordered 500 .44 Spl. and .32 H&R the other day. It’ll probably be several weeks before they’re manufactured and sent to me.

Id like another 500-750 .357 cases to have on hand, but i am not desperate for them.

Stay safe.

The website has been like that for quite a while now. Cases that are open for backorders are just as good as "in stock". Like @Reloadron said, I also kind of pieced together that the modus operandi right now is take backorders on the quantity they can spare to sell direct to individuals or plan to make in the next batch of that case until they're full up on the quantity and then it goes back to "out of stock".

Personally each time I've ordered either 38 spl, 357 mag, 5.56 Nato or 45-70 while on backorder status I received them within 2 weeks at most. Some instances I had a shipped notice in just a few days. This may not always be the case however. I check it usually every day to see what's open for backorders. I wouldn't mind getting some more 357 & 45-70 but I'm also looking out for 30-30 in anticipation of when I can get my hands on a rifle.

I’m looking for 1,000 .357 range brass for $.05 a piece. My LGS sold out

Picked up a bag of 500 S&W on Friday.
2 weeks ago I picked up a bag of 460 S&W.

I never buy mainstream pistol cartridges or even .223, 30-06 and 7.62x39, there is enough range pickup.

Calibers such as 6.5 CM, 308, and 338LM are for my precision rifles so I buy Lapua.

I quit buying new brass a few years ago when I started buying and selling range brass.

Some of the calibers are harder to get then others when buying range brass.

I must admit, I think I gave away too much brass a while back when new reloaders needed a hand. While I have plenty of .38 Special brass I'm a little short on .357 Magnum, 45 Auto and believe it or not, 9mm brass too. Don't get me wrong, I have enough for a good long while but for several years now I have not found brass on the ground at ranges but for some 380 Auto which I don't load for and 22lr brass, that's it! (I sometimes save the empty 22lr brass to sell at the recyclers)

9mm brass is what I gave away the most and now it's low in my stock because it's so easy to lose at the ranges with grass or weeds. I have around 1,000 once fired brass plus another 750 to 800 pieces I've been reloading. That's not a lot lol.

I have very rarely bought brass in the past but might have to in the future unless I get lucky and I find a windfall some day. :(

I've probably sold well over two tons of range brass in the last couple of years and over two tons of lead for casting with in the last seven months of so.

I have my personal brass stored in my reloading room and the range brass in buckets out in the shed.

I was looking for some Starline .45 Super Brass the other day. I can't even backorder it.

Check the starline website regularly. Calibers will switch from out of stock to back ordered, and you need to jump on them because they often go back out of stock within 24 hours or less.

It is just the way of things, if you want that specific brand you are likely going to need to wait.

About a month or so ago I was on the hunt for some 3006 brass, and like you could not get my head around there is none....not this or that brand, NONE.

Wife found some norma brass, she did not tell me the price.....so for $129 I got 100 cases of 3006. Ouch, but I guess it is the way of things now. It should last me quite a while.

It's tough going regarding brass availability. I don't ever remember it being this bad, for this long. Fortunately I have deep stock on all my big bore brass and I can find 9mm brass by the hundreds laying all over the range any given trip.

I bought a 1000 cases of 357 about 5 years ago from them, I suspect it will last me a couple more decades. The only issue I had was the first time I put the primers in, they were extremely hard to push in.

I just got in 500 44 mags the other day. I ordered from them a week ago, when the site said they were accepting back orders, and it showed up 5 days later.

I too, need 500 357s. I'll just keep an eye on the site every day til it comes up for back order

I just checked the site and as of this time they are not taking back orders for 357 Mag

Who would have guessed the rona would have brought back the 357 with such vengeance. I never saw postings about 357 at all and now it's everywhere. If brass prices weren't through the roof starline would be huge by now.

Late 2020 I ordered a 1000 .357 cases from Starline. It took them about 4 months to deliver. That was there time estimate when I ordered and they just about met it.

I need 35 Rem brass, 338 MX brass, 30-30 brass, 45-70 brass, 444 Marlin brass, 450 Marlin brass.

I actually scored a couple of hundred pieces of 45-70 brass last year from Starline and another 100 pieces from Hornady. I trim the Hornady down to new dimensions and use it for the FTX loads which immediately renders it too short for anything else ... so I am hoping to score more Starline one of these days.

Really need 35 Remington in a bad way. I fear the lack of brass will soon make the cartridge obsolete in this country if we are not careful.
