I get up in the morning, pull my pants on and slip my KAHR P45 into its holster and the day is started right. It's my daily companion (concealed carry gun) and comforter as long as I don't have to travel to NY or NJ.
It creates a problem, though. When home and wanting to get some chores done, I have this thing on that I just want to take down to my shooting range and blaze away. Sometimes that urge gets the better of me and I fill my shooting bag with guns, ammo, targets, etc. Then I have a really good day:)
I've always been a fan of beautiful stainless or blued steel firearms, both revolvers (mostly Smiths) and fine Colt autos. I am still married to a Browning HiPower 9mm, too. But the Kahr appealed to me - I liked its small size (just a tad larger than my Walther PPKS .380) and its light weight. The power of the 45 ACP in this small platform is indeed impressive. It was my first DAO gun and that took some getting used to. But I can keep the holes near paper center at 25 yards, and the gun hides nicely on my body - and that's what counts. Good day to you. :)

How is the recoil? I love 45 and have wanted something small like that in the caliber. However, the low weight made me wonder if it would be a handfull to shoot. Of course my Kahr P9 handles the 9mm quite well for such a light gun.

Al, welcome to THR! Glad you like the P45. It does take some getting used to. I have had mine a couple months and had to send it back to the Kahr 'cause the trigger would not reset. Finished the breakin period, the crapped out. It seems fine now and is really concealable. Shoots well with little felt recoil. My only issue has been the trigger reset, but I'm switching out the rear sight for a Novak. Enjoy and safe shooting.

Welcome AL!, sounds like me and you have the same problem.:D I find myself going to the range, when there's housework to be done way too much. But you know what, its not our fault, if these damn guns weren't so fun to shoot, we'de stay home more.

I would classify it as tolerable, just a little short of punishing. So far I have shot a lot of full-house factory loads in it (100 or more at a session) and while recoil is significant it is not painful. My hands are average size and the Kahr fills my grip nicely. I don't believe an experienced handgunner would have any problem with it's recoil but I would not recommend it for a beginner or very small-handed person. I intend to work up a practice reload with a cast bullet so I can shoot it even more.
