I'm considering getting into reloading and thought I would get some advice. If I do reload I will be doing a 25-06, 30-06, 243, and 9mm. I read the thread on $350 staring and was curious if that was a good start with the kits reccomended (RCBS) or is it worth the time to search ebay to piece together a kit? If ebay could I get a list of what one needs and of what brands models to look for. Gracias.

Greeting's bratch -

Most sellers on e-bay won't give a definitive type
description of each and every part, as they are
usually in a rush to get shed of the items. One
has to know the products that are out there,
what they cost; then determine what they are
willing to pay.

With that said, I would suggest investing in the
R.C.B.S., Lyman, or Hornady start-up kit. I got
started back in 1972-1973 with a then new
R.C.B.S. "Jr" kit, with a price tag of about $160.
I used this oufit for years, loading 9m/m, .45
ACP,.38-.357, .44, .22-250, .243, and .25-06.
Now days, I only load handgun calibers; but I
graduated to the R.C.B.S. "Rockchucker" Kit
with a few added accessory's. Price was right
around the $350 mark, when all was said and
done.

If you're merely "considering" a venture into handloading, I strongly suggest you start out by acquiring a loading manual or two (or three or four; you can't have too many manuals).

Manuals are available from Hornady, Lee, Speer, Sierra, Lyman and a host of powder companies. All will be helpful; some are better than others, but that's a matter of opinion. I prefer the Hornady, though it is a bit pricey for the two-book set.

If you actually decide to take up the habit, perhaps a minimal investment might be prudent. A Lee anniversary kit or something like that would keep your spending down to a tolerable level. If you like handloading enough, you'll soon upgrade to more sophisticated stuff.
