I'd rather stash one on my person or within arm's reach, than have half a dozen scattered around the house (and we have kids, so the latter option is out anyway). If you answer your door and someone tries to force his way in, the gun in the couch cushions won't do you much good, but one in an IWB under your shirt just might.
And if someone does kick in your door, you may find that you can't remember where the nearest stashed gun is, if it's not on your person. A THR member who runs a store posted an account of an armed robbery a while back, in which he had to defend himself from someone who was shooting at him. As I recall, the store owner ran right past a stashed 9mm and a stashed shotgun, not even remembering they were there in the stress of the moment, but did manage to draw and fire the .25 or .32 he was carrying.
