So, if 1,000 monkeys type long enough, one will accidentally type out hamlet.
Also, if you do enough load development, you'll eventually find a sub MOA group coming out of a 2 MOA rifle.
I got a 0.975" 100yd 5 shot group out of my Garand last night figuring out the velocity curve for of a new powder/bullet combo. I got my hands on a pound of I4064, which I haven't had luck with in the past, but in planning for future shortages, I figured I should get some data to expedite future load development if needed.
It's a non-bedded Garand with a criterion barrel and CMP stock. The only modifications are a match trigger job, Garand Gear gas plug, and NM sights. It reliably shoots 1.5 to 2 MOA in all of my testing to date.
This load is hot for a stock Garand, so don't use it with a GI gas plug.
48gr IMR 4064, Win LR Primer, Win .30-06 Brass, Sierra 175gr Match King. 2620 FPS
The target is an MR 31 repair center (100yd reduction of the 600yd target)
This one is a fluke, but I'll take it. What it does show is that my rifle really likes the 175gr Match Kings running around 2600 FPS, which is consistent across several powders.
