I was trying to find out where the case stands of Abramski v. US. (Whether or not buying a gun for another lawful purchaser is considered a straw purchase or not)

The latest update I found was in January, 2014 where oral arguments were heard.

I was wondering if anyone with more knowledge of the SCOTUS process knows what happens next or has been following it?

**For anyone not familiar there are multiple threads on THR discussing this case and the possible ramifications of the the ruling.**

Oh, so the debating and everything is over we're just waiting on a ruling? Fingers crossed, if this goes in our favor it would make it very difficult for them to continue to build their registration list (not that it's easy now).

I think the key question to this is going to be, "Who fills out the 4473 form?" If it is the ultimate owner of the firearm then it would seem that the important legal requirements have been met.

A straw purchase is when someone intentionally acts as a proxy for someone else, and fills out paperwork in his or her own name, and then delivers the gun to that individual. This is plainly illegal.

The Supreme Court will be telling us when the decision in Abramski comes out what is and is not legal.

Until then there's really nothing to discuss.
