i was wondering what in forum members opinion is the best rifle steady sling to use deer hunting.
rifle used is sako 85 with pm11 scope.
i have used bipods and they have limitations, sticks are a nuisance on the hill.
i'd like to develop a skill for shooting on the shoulder with a sling.
many thanks.

Check out the "Peabody" sling from Barranti leather. Designed by instructor Il Ling an instructor at Gunsite, it looks like it may be just what you're looking for.

You can see her demonstrate the use of the sling on the Gunsite Hunter Prep video @ Gunblast.com

I use a simple cotton M14 sling on my deer slayer stick. It works great as an adjustable shooting aid, and just fine for slinging the rifle so that I can use both hands for gutting the deer.....not to mention both hands for dragging it out of the woods if I need too. ( The rifle is also my coyote, hog, bear, antelope, sheep, elk, and moose hunting rifle.)

It's not as pretty as the leather slings, but I dont care if mud, blood, and crud gets on it either. ( An easy fix when I get home is to simply throw it in the washing machine..... provided that the wife aint lookin.
