There's a sporting goods store a couple blocks from the inddor range in Lewiston we sometimes stop at if we're short on Ammo. Lately a young woman has been working behind the counter. She knows her ammo. As we were buying some 9mm and 10mm 6 weeks ago, she mentioned she and another young woman walked down to the range to fire an AR-15 One had the rifle carried via a sling and they both carried the ammo. They weere turned away only because of the ban on steel core ammo and they walked

Armor Piercing?

Regarding previous posts about the SS109, if you would consider a 3/8 steel plate as "armor" and the ability of a 62 grain SS109 round to penetrate that plate like a hot knife through butter, would you not consider that "armor piercing"? Forget about Kevlar vests and helmets, there is enough steel in the bullet of an SS109 round that you can easily pick them up with a magnet and they WILL penetrate the type of steel plating associated with light vehicle armor.
The "practice" ammo on stripper clips another poster referenced is German made with primer only, no powder, the "bullet" is simply a steel ball surrounded by a polymer "jacket", "practice" for what I cant imagine because accuracy is impossible with it, the steel ball just flies off in the general vicinity of your target because the polymer "jacket" basically begins to separate and disinigrate as soon as it engages the rifling of the barrel, I wouldnt advise shooting it through any gun you care about.
