Hi need help with a 302 sterling not sure where the sear spring is located or how it is placed in the gun. A picture would be nice if possible. The spring is flat like a hair pin with a hook on one end. Drawings don't help have them. Thanks John

Thanks i'll take a look. all the sterling videos don't go into that detail but maybe the others will.

If I could figure out how to send a pic I would the spring is under all that and in the body of the frame

I just read through J.B. Woods section on the Sterling Model 302 in his book "Troubleshooting Your Handgun" but he made no mention of the sear spring. He did say that the Sterling had quite a few similarities to the Italian Rigarmi pistol made by Rino Galesi.

Careful. If you fix that gun you'll be tempted to fire it. Sterlings are best left as paperweights, small boat anchors, etc. Much safer that way.

I don't really see a leaf spring in the diagram John provided. The only leaf spring I remember on little guns like that are held on by the grip panel(s)?
moxie, I never had a Sterling but had a Jennings a long time ago.. that thing was fun as heck and very reliable and accurate. It's fun to outshoot/out-do someone with a state of the art item and you have essentially a throw-away machine.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The Sterling 302 is not unsafe.

It isn't even zamak (not that it matters) or remotely related to the Jennings guns in any way.

They are stainless steel.
