Sometimes the Lord is kind :)

This week I managed to luck into a .410 Stevens 311 at a local retailer. The price was high but fair so I decided to upgrade the .410 311 I've already got to this one.

The metal and wood fit and finish on this gun are just fantastic, more reminiscent of a nice mid grade double than what I'm used to seeing on a Stevens or other field grade double.

I'm specifically interested in the nice walnut stock on this shotgun. Can anyone tell me if this might be a factory original or was it built and added to the gun later in its service life?

Very interested in what those in the know have to say

Matt, those stocks don't look any thing like the ones on my 311 410,

Looks to be nice wood on yours and the round pistol grip is a give away, factory on all the ones I have seen are the squared off type,

I was pretty sure already, but now that I've seen pics I'm sure. There's no way that they would waste wood like that on a 311. Contour's all wrong too. That is one sweet .410 bore.

Pretty sure it's not factory; first thing I thought to myself when I saw your pic was, that is one really nice piece of wood there.

Thanks guys. It sure beats the pants off the mud-stained hardwood stock on my old one.

I'll feel like an aristocrat shooting doves & clays with it...might even have to take up pipe smoking and buy a tweed jacket!
