looking at savages website a i find these. i want to know is if they the kind of quality the shooting community has come to expect from savage/stevens, they seem to be a copy of the Winchester 1300 but i can't find that much info on them.

They are made in China and modeled after the Winchester 1300.

You can buy a Winchester 1300 in very good shape for $225 and cut the barrel to 18.5" and you would have a fine gun for home defense. I bought a 20 ga Win. 1300 for my Grandson for his Birthday about 4 months ago , used but in very nice condition for $225. It has a very smooth action and that is the gun he wanted from the gunshop when he picked it out himself. He is happy with it and has taken much game too. Just a thought for you to consider. The gun i'm pretty sure is made in China. I was surprised because a family member has one. For the same money used you can pick up an Ithaca 37, Remington 870 Wingmaster and get a short barrel or cut the barrel down.

I purchased the 350 Security/field combo no issues to date and nowhere did I find that it is made in China. All my papers state USA made.

On the left side of receiver , the one I saw ..

stated "Made in China". Also there is a review of the stevens guns in a gun magazine that I read recently that all of these Savage- Stevens shotguns are made in China. Call Them and they will confirm this. Even the new Winchester defender is made in Turkey. Snoop

    Chinese made shotguns,,

IAC Imports Hawk industries, a branch of Norinco makes several shotguns patterned after Ithaca, Remington and Winchester. Also, Harrington & Richardson Pardner pump is made in China, along with all of those made by Stevens,,the 320, and 350. Also Century arms imports pump action and other shotguns made in China, All of this common knowledge that can be ascertained from the internet. Snoop

I own the Stevens 320, got it at Big 5 on sale for $175+tax. So far it's a great gun, the fore end prevents putting on a side saddle but makes it much more comfortable for shorter shooters. I'm 5'4 so the extended fore end is major plus side, also the loading gate doesn't bite my thumb as bad as the Win 1300 Defender I have. Both are great guns and I think the Winchester has a little smoother action but I don't regret getting the Stevens at all. I've put about 150 shells through it, a value 100 pack target load to break it in and about 50 00 buck to pattern it. So far the only issue I've had is paying for the ammo :p
