So I just found out about these, and my LGS carries them for ~$250.

I'm kind of in the market for a backup HD shotgun in the near future. I like the ghost ring rear sight, and I actually prefer the crossbolt style safety in general over the Mossberg style "top of receiver" safety. Not a deal breaker or a huge issue, just more consistent with the rest of my long arms...

I've also had good experiences with Savage products. Got a couple of rifles that I am pleased with. So therefore they have earned my consideration.

Anyway - anybody got any experience with this particular model? Any insight to share? Thanks in advance.

The Stevens 350 is made in China and is a copy of the Ithaca 37. The Stevens 320 is made in China and is a copy of the Winchester 1200/1300. In this price range you should also consider the Maverick and the H&R Pardner Pump.

Thanks guys - I appreciate the responses.

I went by my LGS today, and it turns out that this model is discontinued anyway. He just hasn't updated his website yet.

My dealer was disappointed, as it seemed to be a good seller and I believe he said he had only one return out of all he sold. The model 320, on the other hand, was very problematic according to him. In a word, he called the 320 "junk".

I actually have one of the H&R Pardner Pumps. I like it just fine, it seems to be well worth the $179 plus tax I paid back in '08. I know that it's a Chinese knock-off of the 870 and that a lot of people don't care for that. I thought that the Stevens was an American product, and therefore I was trying to support buying American this time around. If it's just another foreign copy then I could just get another Pardner for all that.

Ironically I would probably feel better about an older 870 than one of the newer ones. I see tales of rough chambers and hinky ejection that you just didn't see in years past. I will probably just go with a classic 870 or 500 when it's all said and done. Maybe if Lady Luck is smiling on me I can snag a nice used Wingmaster. Thanks again for the responses.
