Stevens 940 and 94C

I have a 410 Stevens 940 that needs a new barrel. They seem to be as scarce as elk in Antarctica.:banghead: I was told the 410 barrel from a 94C is the same, and was able to try one, but it doesn't lock up as well as the original 940 barrel. The 94C barrel is from a top lever gun and my 940 is a side lever. I'm hoping some of you more knowledgeable shotgun gurus can tell me what the difference is in the barrels, and if I am able to find a 940 barrel, if it will have to be fitted by a gunsmith. Thanks for any information.

I would anticipate that any new/different barrel on any 94C/940 shotgun would need fitting by a gunsmith, except in the case of a real fluke. Hope you can find a barrel that will work out for you,

I found a barrel for the 940. I'll see how it works out. I'll have it checked and/or fitted by a gunsmith. Thanks for the assistance.
