Greetings all,

This is my first post. So please bear with me.

I have a Stevens Model 120 and would love to know how to take down the bolt.

I did find a previous post with the same question here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=31279, but unfortunately, the pictures that explain the bolt takedown are no longer hyperlinked.

Does anyone else know how to take down the Stevens Model 15/15A/15B/15Y or 120?

Thanks,
Dave

Welcome to THR!

I've got a model 15, and have discussed here and here.

Depending on the variation, you should be able to unscrew the retaining bolt counterclockwise to remove the striker.
Let us know what else you need, I'd be glad to take more pics.

Highorder,

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your help. I tried twisting the striker, but it seems pretty solid and stuck in there. I guess I'm going to have to find a gunsmith to take it apart for me.

Again, many thanks,
Dave

Don't twist the striker, twist the small (.200"ish) round head bolt that retains it...

Or find a smith you trust. :)

highorder,

Thanks very much for your guidance. I was able to get the striker out. It needed a serious cleaning. I am still perplexed on how to punch the extractor out. I wanted to free the extractor and firing pin to give it a bit of a solvent bath, but it wouldn't budge.

Any suggestions on that front?

Again, I appreciate your help and guidance to this point.

Thanks very much,
Dave

There is likely metal swaged (with a punch, etc) holding the extractor in the bolt body. Grind that off and punch out the L shaped extractor. The extractor holds the firing pin in place. When you replace the extractor, you'll need to swage the bolt body in a different spot to retain the extractor.
