Steyr Scout Good Price?

Today I bought online a gently used excellent condition .308 Steyr Scout Jeff Cooper Edition gray with factory Leupold scope and rings, Ching sling, factory hard case, three mags, and paperwork for $1520.







Do you think I did okay on this? I’m very excited to own one!

What caliber? If, 308 or a common one I think you did very well. I think they made them in .376 Steyr or some such also, which not a bad round is a hand loader's option now.

It’s a .308, the .376 ones are sure tough to find shells for!

I think that sounds like a pretty good price. Certainly not unreasonable, especially not for the whole kit-n-kaboodle that comes with it.

Very nice deal!

Read up on it to use it as designed. Not all is obvious with it. Brother has the .376 version and I never really got it to be honest. Cooper had some great ideas and Steyr (I think) got them right but many shooters don't understand the design well.

Looks like a very good deal in todays market, particularly with the scope and extras. I played with the action of a .223 Steyr Scout once at a LGS and was impressed by the smooth-cycling bolt.

New Steyr Scouts are $1500 - $1800 and the scope new is about $350. So I think you got a heck of a deal.

i bought a steyr pro in .376, with three mag,s and 250 new hornady cases in like new condition. i have not shot it yet, but i will soon.

I think you did fine. Buddy has a .308 that I’ve shot some. Interesting design. I’m not a fan of the forward-mounted scout scope, but other than that, I like it. I’d consider one in 7mm08.

I’ve always wanted one. The lucky part is you got to handle it and try the feel before commuting gold to it. That’s even better. The scout rifle is a concept I fawned over but never built. I need to remedy that.

I think you found a great deal! I have a Ruger Gunsite Scout and it is a handy little rifle. The Steyr is much more trim and svelte than the Ruger and I bet handles like a dream.

Yup, and I think that would be a pretty slick set up.

In today's market I believe you did well on a lightly used example when factoring in the Leupold scope, the rings, the sling & extra magazines, the paperwork and that hard case. That factory hard case is an Air Glide, made by Plano, or at least it looks just like the Air Glide I've had for over 20 years and it's a wonderful case.
