I have recently had a few threads here about getting a AR-15 but while playing the game Army of Two I saw a gun called an AUG and thought it was cool. (I know, probably not the best idea to get gun ideas from videogames but whatever:D) So I started looking it up and came across the STG-556 and it really cought my attention. I have a few questions about it though.
1. Can I change the optics?
2. How accurate is it? Is it as accurate as an AR-15?
3. How reliable is it?
4. Is it worth the money or should I just go with an AR?

The reason that I want this gun is I really like the bullpup design.

Steyr will be selling AUGs here this year. A Steyr AUG can't be beat.

Some of these copycats have been having 'issues'.

I know the STG556 had some early production issues, haven't heard much about it since, good OR bad.

That in itself sort of concerns me.

Sure the Steyr will be out soon..... They have been showing one at Shot Show for three plus years. I wouldnt hold my breath.

The TPD AXR is shipping now. Give Kent at TPD a call.

the tpd-axr is something I'd be interested in seeing how is doesn't use proprietary mags, but uses ar15 STANAG mags. That feature is definitely attractive.

I just read in my latest small arms review, that it is done, stg that is, that some of the small issues were taken care of, that it is actually more reliable, and easier to clean than the aug, and has a flattop rail , for other optics.

I have had both the AXR and MSAR apart next te each other. I really feel that the overall fit and finish of the TPD AXR was better.I would go with the AXR it is true to the original AUG and has one really nice CNC Billet 7075 reciever. Even the stocks are Steyr Nato Stocks.
