Hello. Just got back in from Austin, TX from CHL instructor recertification. On the way, my friends and I stopped at STI where one had worked a deal on a "Duty One" 1911 pistol. This one is unique as it had been made for one of the company's head guys and has a stainless steel frame w/blue slide. The gun had Heine plain black sights on it. It has the full-length dust cover with light rails on it and the heavy 5" barrel. (You can see a picture if interested at www.stiguns.com under "Complete Guns.")
Anyway, I thought it was sort of ugly...until I shot it.
Admittedly, I didn't get to fire it much, but I was more than a little bit surprised and pleased at how little muzzle flip there was. Slowfire, the thing appeared to be capable of dropping one shot on top of another, but in rapid-fire, a "triple-tap" at about 10 or 12 yards was inside of about a 4" diameter circle.
If and when I can pry it away from its owner, I'll do a range report.
Best.
