Am I the only one or do others have a problem with speedloaders? I find that they get hung up on the grip, or just hang up going into the cylinder. The only one's I have are for J frame Smiths and these speedloaders seem to be anything but.

I use safariland speedloaders exclusively. After trying the HKS, I really prefer the Safariland for quicker reloads and because they don't dump the rounds EVER.
If the speedloader gets caught up on the handgun grip, I would either change the grip or modify the grip (file, cut) so that it won't get hung up. I want a fast reload. Having pretty grips is not a priority for me.

One of guns is a model 60. It's my wife's gun and she's not about to take those rubberized grips off. The other gun is my model 49 and it has the original wooden grips on it; they're pretty slim and one would think they wouldn't hang up the speedloader but they do. Also, the rounds won't go into the cylinders all the way to the speedloader. I'm not sure why.

If I'm not mistaken, this is an issue related to J-frames with larger after market grips such as Pachmayr and the like, but I also had the same problem with my newer model Bulldog .44.

I use HK speed loaders with my model 36's and other Revolvers. Most of the guns have Pachmeyer of OEM grips. The best technique for quick loads I've found is the following.

1. Using the thumb of the shooting hand depress the cylinder latch.
2. Using the left hand fingers, push out the cylinder grip and hold the gun by the frame.
3. Tip the muzzle up and push the ejector rod to eject the empty cases.
4. Tilt the muzzle down and using your right hand retrieve and insert the speed loader.
5. Twist the knob to release the rounds into the cylinder then allow the loader to fall.
6. Close and re-latch the cylinder with the left hand and then establish grip with right shooting hand.

If you watch this JERRY MICULIK video of fastest revovler shot you will see in the last part how he uses is right hand to shoot and speed load as described above though he was probably using mood clips.
