Actually, i beleive you're going to be hard pressed to find a similarly featured stock, much less one of that quality, for that price or less, in any material. Last i looked even less expensive Hogue stocks were near that price and i'm not sure that they offer a savage rimfire inlet. And Boyd's seems to have dropped the Savage version of their "Evolution" stock

even a similarly styled unfinished stock from Richard's is going to start around $150-160 (laminate. standard grade Walnut starts at $115), and then you have to do the final inletting, shaping, and finishing.
I've gone that route (stock from Richard's), "number of hours you'd spend sanding x minimum wage" would far exceed $50, might even pay for the SSS stock.

Did a little more digging before posting and the only thing i've seen for under $199 was A thumhole design over at Stocky's for $135.99 but that's not exactly what you were looking for was it. also the one at Stocky's pretty much requires you to get another $44 worth of replacement bottom metal and screws.

well good luck with your search. :)

i say it's not worth the hassle... when i bought my 93r17, i wanted an an aftermarket stock, but figured it wasn't worth it.... SO, i bought a 93R17 BTVS with thumbhole..

yeah i agree noob, but this rifle was passed down from my great, great grandfather (obviously purchased late in life). he droped the rifle and cracked the polymer stock and i want to get it back in good condition, so i can take some limbrats and in his honor. I would really like to find some factory take-offs for it, but can't find any used.

I just called SSS wednesday to check on an MTR stock for a 93r17...I was told no less than an 8-week wait as all stocks are made to order.

Savage need to inundate the market with the new TR stocks as available as replacements...they'd get rich quick-like.
