I've shot a couple of the manners stocks but not the TA. They are definitely well made. I don't like the Terry cross hardware for their adjustible cheek piece as much as the Macmillan.

No experience with b&c

I like hs precision as a quality but cheaper option but I would sooner tatoo "I support state sponsored murder" on my forehead than own anything from hs precision.

I have both B&C Tactical Medalist, and HS Precision stocks, can't tell the difference. Both have aluminum v-block bedding, both stiff as a baseball bat. I did notice a consirable abount of recoil difference with the B&C, compared to the Choate UV stock, as in way more comfortable to shoot!! My 10FP .308, is a joy to shoot 50-60rds out of in a range session, compared to the old Choate it replaced. The HS is mounted to my Rem700 LTR, and have no issues with it other than it needed a cheek riser after adding a rail scope mount:)

No experiance with the expensive stocks, and glad I don't know what I'm missing:D

thanks for the advice

i have to say as far as the stocks are concerned i had been thinking of the B&C for a long time but i am a huge fan of the old M-40 look and feel that is the impression i got when i looked at the manners TA but the B&C is much more wallet friendly sometimes i guess its hard to choose i could work overtime and make the money + extra in a week to get the manners but if there is no difference in the stocks whats the point i guess

It really would help you to try before you buy. It's not always easy but depending on your location there may be opportunities like a high power match and a good sport allowing you to GASP... touch his rifle.

I like my HS (is $360 really cheap? Yikes!) but I've heard the B&Cs have a nicer finish. I assume what's being described is the smoother feel vs. an HS which feels a bit abrasive.

Hard to go wrong with any of your choices so long as the style suits your needs, you'll adapt to whatever you buy with enough trigger time.

Good luck and congrats on your future purchase.

(I said 'cheaper' :) since the manners/macmillan alternatives are usually $650-750)

i have a B&C medalist and it is really nice quality for the money, no it is not equal to the H&S or macmillian, but if you dont plan on taking it to WWIII it will suit you just fine. but if money is not an object get the best!
