I shot a friends couger 9mm and loved it due to its size and feel price is nice too so now i have to pick

15 + 1 9mm
10 + 1 40sw
8 + 1 45acp

what would make a better house duty gun

p.s. i am not trying to start a ammo fight i am asking with the number of rounds with what they do what a better choice fro a h/d gun

Well, i would have to say 9mm.

You shot a 9mm, and you liked THE 9mm. So get the 9mm unless you shoot a .40 and like the .40

Im a Pretty big .40 fan overall but looking at the quantity difference between those, id go with quantity over size. A hit with a 9mm is better than a miss with a .45 and those 16 9mm's give you a much better chance. Also, with Ammunition as amazing as it is now... I have absolutely no problem trusting my life to a quality defensive 9mm hollow point. I personally test ammo on different media's and have found that the Speer Gold Dots and Corbon DPX's are the cream of the crop.

Some will argue that a .45 that doesn't open in a person is still .45" and a 9mm has to work properly to get to that size. On some guns where capacity is closer i could understand, but 7 rds difference between 9 and 45 on that frame is pretty impressive. Think of basically having to reload or carry a spare mag to equal that 9mm capacity and no way is a mag full of 45 gonna be all hits.

sorry i rambled a little bit but just sharing my views on the situation. When it comes to guns like my XD, the XD45 holds 14rds where my xd9 holds 17, I can justify the 45 for my nightstand gun. But that Cougar has a big gap there!... 3 opposed to 7!!!!! thats amazing

I have the Stoeger Cougar 9mm and really like it. I'm going to buy the .45 version this week. At this point in time, if I could only have one, I would go with the 9mm due to the cheaper ammo and 15 rounds vs 8. However, ask me that next week and I might change my mind. Buy both, they're probably the best buy for the money of any pistol on the market today!

I've got the 9mm version and keep it in the family room by my chair for home defense. Here's mine with some Beretta grips.

With that kind of disparity in cartridge capacity, I'd recommend 9mm in this platform (even though I would normally prefer .40 S&W or .45 ACP).

Who will fix it...Stoeger is owned by Beretta and is based in Maryland. I don't think service, if needed, will be a problem.

Excellent handgun IMO! But my only complaint is the low ammo capacity for the .40 S&W. IMO it's too big to only carry 10+1. Heck, my G27 has the same capacity and it's slightly smaller (with a pearce grip extension).

That's the only reason I never purchased this handgun but other than that it's a very smooth shooter. It has the smoothest action I've ever felt on a hangun. Maybe one day I'll decide to buy it... but if I do it'll more than likely be the 9mm.

But like Kingofthehill said, If you enjoy shooting the 9mm, get it. But if you prefer the .40 than jump on it. I'm personally a .40 S&W guy.
