All else being equal would I be wiser to buy a Stoeger or a CZ-USA (Huglu) SXS shotgun? Why would one be better than the other?

I have two Turkish shotguns. One is a CZ Huglu 20 ga S/S. The other a Yildiz .410 O/U.

Both are near Beretta quality. Excellent fit and finish. Both came with 5 choke tubes; the .410 has ejectors! Typically only seen on high dollar guns. It's my most used shotgun. I haven't fired a 12ga in over 5 yrs.

IMO, the Stoger guns I've looked at are "crude" compared to the Turkish copy's of Beretta guns. I was eyeing a TriStar 12 o/u at Walmart yesterday. Without taking it out of the display case, I was impressed with the exterior finish and apparent fit.

I'm sure the Stogers will be "Functional", but lack the fit and finish of the Turkish guns of the last 20yrs.

I did have a problem with my CZ. Actually, it was before it was a CZ. My wife gave me the gun as a 25th anniversary gift. It was labeled Armsco, as that was the importer before CZ. The gun started "doubling", firing both barrels simultaneously. A local Browning approved gunsmith couldn't get the gun to not double. So, I had friend at shop my wife got the gun from send it back to Armsco. In the meantime, CZ took them over.
Six months lapsed. No gun! My friend contacted CZ to see what had come of the gun. CZ rep said YES, we've been trying to figure out whose gun that was!
Short version, they sent me a new gun! This one is marked CZ.
They even sent me back the Pachmayer old English style recoil pad I'd fitted to previous gun. But, They didn't fit it...
I can't complain about CZ's customer service!

The CZ/Huglu is worlds better than a Stoeger. Better fit, finish, handling, looks, and customer service. Neither is a high volume target gun, but would be fine for hunting and casual clays.

I've had a Huglu 20 ga OU for about 10 years. It is my favorite Grouse gun. Never a problem, well made and tight. Oh and it cost $800 less than a Beretta Onyx. A friend has a Stoeger, shoots fine, but is like shouldering a canoe paddle!
Be sure to handle both before buying, whichever feels best is the one.

As soon as I can check one out (and justify paying for it!), my next gun will probably be a CZ Upland Ultralight. Not sure if I want to get another 12 or 20, but I don't think the price is a huge difference.
