Hello, looking to buy a new semi shotgun and was looking at this shotgun..would like some opinions, good and bad.

Thanks,

John

From what I have read recently the newer ones (Red high vis front sight and ramped rib) are greatly improved over the previous models.

Some other good guns in the same price range would be Mossberg 930 or Beretta 3901.

+1 for smitty.

I have one of the new model Stoeger M2000s. The most improved gun of the year. Ain't nothing wrong with a mossberg 930. It is a soft shooting, very reliable gun from what I hear.

I wanted to try one of the new Stoegers. Had one of the old model 2000s. Lots of difference in them looks and quality wise. Very easy to clean. A little heavy on the recoil side. But a Limbsaver tames the beast.

Both of them good guns.

I have a Stoeger Model 2000. It does have the ramped rib and hi vis sight. I have shot roughly 900 rounds through it trap, teal, and dove hunting and have never had a jam, misfeed, or any other problem. I've used it in the drizzle, a salt marsh, laid it on the ground, probed brush for snakes, and generally used the dang thing and it has yet to hiccup. The gun has been totally trouble free. I do clean it and lube with FP10 after each use. It's fairly easy to disassemble for cleaning too.

The chokes (except for the turkey choke) that come with the gun have some crappy chrome plating that peels easily. I patterned the gun with the skeet choke when I first got it and later after most of the chrome peeled off and it was okay. The chokes just seem cheap to me. Also, the trigger guard is plastic and I don't really care for that either - my personal preference.

I would highly recommend the shotgun to anyone. You simply can't beat it for the money.
