Tried out my new Mech Tech CCU this morning. I was really surprised at the accuracy. I was using my reloads--6.5 Unique behind 230 grain Winchester FMJ. Mech Tech says they want the equivilent .45 ACP handgun minimum of 850 fps to avoid stovepiping and not having a chrono I'm wondering if I'm loading enough Unique to get that velocity. Any opinions would be welcomed. I don't know if looking at the primers is any indication with the CCU but at 6.5 grains of the Unique there's no sign of excess pressure-not even a hint of flattened primers. What would be a good +p load here if you folks think I can raise the charge level?

Thanks.

Pete

6.5 grs of Unique behind a 230 gr bulet should be right in the 850 fps MV range. I'd go back to the manual. Maybe consider a different powder? I use Herco in my Mech Tech loads. 'Nice thing about the Mech Tech is you can load to up to higher levels than standard. I've run Super loads through it and it keeps on ticking. 'Got to isolate those loads so they don't get into a standard upper though.;) Carefully ...
