I deprimed a tub of range brass today that I have collected. Some of the 380's felt funny, or different, when I ran them through my Lee depriming die. The head stamp is GECO and looking into the case there is a ring in the bottom around the primer. Between the primer and the case wall. Almost like the older ballon head cases. Has anyone else noticed this?

Can't comment other than I have some GECO stamped loaded cartridges in like 9mm and 44 spl. I think they came from the Sportman's Guide. They came from my grandpas collection

I file all my GECO brass in the scrap bucket, I think it's garbage.

Having said that, I'll be curious to see what the deal is.

I'll get a picture up after while, if my phone camera is good enough. But yeah, I usually scrap a lot of lesser known headstamps. Depending on scrap prices a 5 gallon bucket of scrap will buy 1 or 2 boxes of new Lapua brass.

Shine some light down inside.

I bet I have some Geco .380 in the mix I have picked up in the last couple of years, I'll look when I get home, if I don't forget. I know I have some Geco 9MM.

2 boxes of new Lapua brass.
For .380? Great stuff in general, but Lapua seems like over kill for .380. :)

Well, maybe my writing comprehension needs a little work! I guess 5 gallons of 380's would be quite a few?

I was saving scrap brass for my retirement!:)

Had 2 five gal buckets. You know what the rate around here is? Less than .37 cents a pound!

I ain't picking up range brass no mo!

GECO is from Germany I believe. I’ve shot it a few times, nothing to write home about.

Stay safe!

Two weeks ago I took 350+ pounds of scrap brass to the recycler and received $1.52 a pound for it. If you have other recyclers in your area, shop around before selling it.

Hope this helps.

Fred

I make annual trips to the recycler... I usually have half a pickup of old motors, copper heat exchangers, wire... and a bucket or two of scrap brass. Last trip (2018) I got 1.50/lb for my brass. It does pay to shop around if you have a goodly quantity of it, and it may not hurt to find out how they will classify it... brass... or some downstream variation that pays less.
