For me it was a show after Christmas, and it was a table full of dolls, larger collector type not barbies.
2nd was the guy selling a tilting tables you lay down on, had your feet strapped in some how and inverted yourself with. Guess he didn't know his crowd.
BTW I like the jerky being sold, it tastes better and is cheaper than the snackbar offerings.

The strangest thing Ive seen was "Nazi Silverware" This lady had all types of silver platters, forks, knives, goblets, pretty much a whole set. And she had it under like a black semi transparent cloth. She also had old pictures and some other odd stuff...

Thought the bump keys at the last show didn't need to be there. Every criminal in the place would be picking some up. And of course jewelry.

Their slogan should of been "buy your bump key from us, and get shot by the ammo that that guy is selling over there"

Years and years ago the local gun store had knives with "Ku Klux Klan" emblazoned onto the blades. These were modern manufacture so its not like they could claim they were of historical significance or anything. I haven't seen any garbage like that in years, but recently the local gun show is sliding down in quality again so who knows.

Massages. Some woman had the table w/the hole for the face and she was selling massages.

Man was she ever in the wrong place. Bunch of middle aged redneck men in cowboy hats and boots chewing tobacco. And she's selling a pedicure. So to speak.

I understand the pocket knives and such. I mean a buch of gun owners in a room, most are interested in knives too, but this sunday there was a guy selling small bone handled knives for $1k and even higher. Wow.

Alot of our gun shows are advertised as a "gun and knife" show, so there is alot of that.

At the last Indy 1500 there was a guy selling meteorites.

And there has been at every 1500 a huge display of laboratory equipment...pyrex boiling flasks of huge size, beakers, tubing, precision scales, titration beakers...everything you could possibly need to set up a chemistry lab. Gee...I wonder what somebody in the Midwest would want to cook up?

Nazi militaria is pretty common around europe.. lot's of collectors.. This has nothing to do with them being neo nazis.. it's just the historical value of it.

Historical value or not, I find that stuff creepy and distasteful.

I went to a show in N. Florida years ago and one guy had a display that included lampshades made from human skin.

Nooo way they were real human skin.

Anything like that would either be illegal, or in a museum from World War 2. Buchenwald in Germany was a little out of control even by Nazi standards. Human skin book covers were popular.

Every show I go to, most folks are just regular folks like us, but there is always that couple of guys (and gals) that are weird enough to stare at. There was a couple guys at a show dressed in SS Nazi uniforms just walking around all day. There wasn't a reinactment or any reason other than they just wanted to show off their uniforms. There was this one "girl" dressed in a WW2 waac uniform complete with a pageboy hair do and a stripe down the back of the stockings. That would have been kind of cool if it hadn't been a MAN!!!:what::barf:

wouldnt you own a Nazi k98 or a Lüger ?

I don't get it.. Evil is what people do, not what objects are..

dressing with Nazi stuff, this is weird, and has another meaning.. i agree on that.

wouldnt you own a Nazi k98 or a Lüger ?

Nope. Anything I'd own would be pre 33 or post 45 if of German manufacture. Somethings are too tainted with evil to tolerate. The only K98 I'd willingly buy is one of the 7.62 Nato ones reworked by Israel. At least those have good use balancing them out.

Lot's of things in history are distasteful. That doesn't change it. It doesn't change anything just because you ignore it. Owning Nazi memorabilia doesn't make you a bad person or a racist. Would you not want American historical pieces from the Indian wars. They got a pretty raw deal too you know. How about any American artifact prior to 1865. If you own a piece of Civil War memorabilia from the Confederates, does that mean you're pro slavery?

If you don't like things that's fine. Free country. But history is important.

I fully agree with that .

Some folks have trouble seperating the acts of human beings from inanimate objects that have been used as tools or symbols. This is the same thinking that the media uses when they flash a picture of a firearm whenever they report violent act. The same thinking that gives fuel to the use of "assault" rifle .

The symbol for good luck, used for a long time prior to the German usage in the 1930's and 40's, is somehow now creepy and distasteful ? Our reasoning should be stronger than this .

Turning the lights out on something does not make it go away - it simply keeps it in the dark. Blaming objects for the behavior of those that use them , is not shining light on the real problem, nor making it go away. That is why gun control is NOT crime control , and that's why symbols of the past are not creepy nor distasteful to me. They are historical and educational .

Btw, what is a "bump key"?

A specially made key suited for a certain type of lock. Such as cylindrical locks found on most houses. A bump key takes little skill to use, and it's a quick alternative to lock picking. Most peoples homes could easily be opened using a bump key. Which is exactly why people buy them. Although the salesman said "you could help out a neighbor who is locked out!"

As for myself... lock picking is one of my other hobbies. Bump keys make it too easy though.
