I want to add more products to my online store. My distributor can't get SureFire weapons lights, but tells me that Streamlight and Insight weapons lights sell very well.

I don't have experience with either brand, and don't want to offer products that aren't good quality.

Can anyone speak to the quality of these lights?

Both are high quality, though Streamlight seems to sell better. Surefire seems to do more direct to shop stuff rather then distributor.

I own a stream light for my Springfield XD sub comp.

Its been on my AR too. I've had it for about 3 years now and haven't had to replace the battery yet so I know the batt doesn't run down if the light is off.

It still works, though I admit i haven't really used it enough to find out what kind of beating it can take.

Aren't Streamlight and Insight the same lights with a different name on them? Or am I thinking of some other company?

Looking at the weapon lights from each company they do appear to be identical. Some of them even have the same model number (M3X I think).

I could be wrong, but I believe that Streamlight was the distributor for Insight Technologies for some time. However, Insight appears to be distributing their own products now.

My impressions of Streamlight products generally are very good. Although I like the Insight weapons lights better than the Streamlight versions. I have Insight M3/6 lights on several pistols and have been very please with their reliability and performance.

That said, LEDs have come a long way in the past year and I'm anxiously awaiting Surefire's release of the X400 (an improved X300 LED weaponslight with an accompanying laser).

At any price point, I don't think you can go wrong with Streamlight's TLR-series, Insight's M-series or Surefire's X-series.

Good luck!
