Strongly Considering Taurus MilPro 145

I have one but don't shoot it much anymore -

- using the Heinie "Straight Eight"" sights is... Different.

I LIKE the Heinie "Straight Eight"" sights, don't get me wrong, but it's a different sight picture than (most) all my other handguns.

I'm used to 3-Dot sights, it's what I practice with, it's what I use most at the range (even my plinkers) - it's my CCW; moving back and forth between my Taurus MilPro and all my other guns wasn't doing my "aiming/muscle-memory" any good....

....But that's just me - I'm VERY left-eye dominant and right-handed (can hardly see out of my right eye)

:)

As is already apparent only the actual owners and users have valid facts on this.

Here's what the PT145 and others here had to say about the PT145.
These go back several years for some of the links. That in part shows the reliability factor.

Visit TaurusArmed.Net to see what owners say about that gun. Many love it. A few have had issues.
I carry a PT111, a 9mm which is the same size, and love it.
I'd expect a sharper recoil with the bigger bullet.

I have one of the older DAO models and it is a fine weapon. Mine works.

I have one and like it a lot. I did replace the sights with williams fire sights. 10 + 1 of 45 acp in a fairly concealable package is comforting.

Third generation, and very happy owner. It's my summer carry, couldn't afford the glock, and glad I didn't....I really love the pt145, lower cost, really a great gun.

My 2d Gen Stainless PT-145 is my "serious social occasions" gun. Carry it loaded with Federal 230-gr Tactical Bonded. It's 100% reliable with anything I feed it and surprisingly accurate.

Check out the 24/7 C DS for the same size gun with cocked and locked option so the first shot can be SA (or DA). I have one and it's been 100% reliable and very accurate too.

I have one and love it. It is my primary carry piece, and has many rounds through it with no issues whatsoever. Very concealable, feels great in the hand, and very good trigger in sa.

I daily carry my newest generation Mil Pro 45 and have put 800 rounds through it. Not a single glitch of any kind.

I also own a pt111 Mil Pro (9mm version). I've shot this gun for 3 years now and although I carry a Glock27 mostly, I do take the Mil Pro with me on trips when I know I will have to leave it in the car in states that don't recognize my carry permit. I do this because it is more susceptible to being stolen out of my car since I can't carry it on me & I don't have as much invested in it. I have not had any problems with it except the one time I ran 1000 rounds through it without cleaning it to test how much dirt it could handle. The Glock27 didn't fail at 1000 rounds, the Mil Pro had a few hiccups after 900 rounds. Other than that it has been 100% reliable.

Yes Taurus will ship some guns that will need to be fixed. Maybe their rate is higher than other manufacturers. I wish that was not the case, but it seems to be true. If you want a gun that has a zero probability of failing out of the box then buy a... ummm, let's see that would be a... ummm, never mind.
