Strung out on CZ's

There is no cure...you just keep on trading, and gain the experience of shooting more often...you may even become a 'reloader'...

I only have 12 working handguns, some very nice and a few really over priced imo. But if I had my pick to get me out of a really bad situation, I'd take my CZ 75B any day. Even over the Glocks. ( uh oh....I'm in trouble now! lol)

The selection of any tool is a personal choice, and doesn't need to be a one size fits all. In this case I agree with you because I have the most confidence in a my CZ 75B. I know that it will always work, and that I shoot it better than other pistols.

Cz makes some nice pistols. I love my P-01

Railroader , that SAO Compact just made my private parts tingle in a good way !
WOW!!!! I have never seen a SAO in a Compact before !!!! WOW

Got my first one a month ago, a CZ75 compact. Never even considered one before, but seen one out and about and took it home. Shot it and Hmm, kinda neat. Put the G10 slim grips on it, polished the guts and installed a 17# mainspring. This thing shoots great and puts my sig 239 to shame. Petros

I've bought 2 guns in my life (all other needs were gifted, or inherited). A CZ 550 Varmint for myself and a CZ 452 Ultra-Lux for my dad. My next purchase will be a CZ 452FS or a CZ 452 Lux for myself. Afte that a CZ 550 6.5x55...after that an FNP, but eventually I want a CZ 75B, like towboats' . My dad is a Hi-Power luster, but I think the CZ 75 might be the cheapest alternative we can get to a Hi-Power.

The CZ75 is not a "cheaper alternative" to the BHP, it is the next evolution of the BHP which was the next evolution of the 1911 ( *gasp* BLASPHEMY!!!! *gasp*). JMB May have had nothing to do with the CZ design (and had been long dead by then) but it takes many cues from the BHP and improves on them.

I meant cheaper money wise, not desgin wise. We are taling $480 for a CZ75 versus $900 for a Hi-Power. He likes the looks of the CZ, also, but come on, a Hi-Power is still a Hi-Power. It isn't that the Hi-Power is a better gun, but it has it's own history and mistique.

After alot of years, for me it's come down to all-metal... a bunch of SIGs, a bunch of CZs and a couple third-generation S&Ws.

Yep, same here-with the exception of an H&K USP 40 and a Ruger LCP. In terms of semi-autos, two SIGs, a Beretta Model 92, two third-generation Smiths, a CZ 85, a Colt Gold Cup, a Smith Model 52, a Smith Model 945, a Smith Model 41 and a Ruger MK II. Don't see any Glocks or their ilk infiltrating my inventory any time soon. :)

I felt the same way until I had a chance to shoot a Styer M9-A1. For a polymer frame striker fired pistol, it's just great. It has a much better trigger than anything else I've shot that's striker fired.

No kidding! I love my Steyr pistols. IMO they are the best shooting combat Tupperware out there along with the M&P's but when you go metal, non 1911's..... CZ baby!

I recently traded a FNX9 for P01. On a whim, added a kadet .22 conversion unit. In both calibers, this gun is fantastic.

QUESTION: What' the difference between the "DECOCKER" models and those with the thumb safety?

Thanks,

Paul

Well, P01 doesn't come with a manual safety but the CZ models that do, you have to manually lower the hammer yourself but it also gives you the option to carry it cocked and locked. Decocker models don't offer C&L but puts the hammer down for you.

Thanks,

The reason I asked was that on the FNX9, if you pressed down on the manual safety, it functioned as a decocker -- press up, and it functioned as a thumb safety (for either cocked and locked or double action carry).

One last question: Can the safety be engaged when the hammer is down in the DA mode?

Thanks,

Paul
