I have a stuck loaded 7-08 that is not in a shell holder. Any ways to get it out.

I am assuming you mean in a full-length sizing die. Remove shell holder then raise the press ram to just contact shell head and slip shell holder into place also catching the shell's rim. The shell should come right out once it is engaged.

Shouldn't be in seating die, maybe OP accidentally rammed a loaded case into sizing die (decapper removed for separate operation) and got it wedged in tight?

Daryl, please give us as much info as you can about your situation so we can tell you the safest remedy to your problem.

How could it be a sizing die if the cartridge is "loaded"?

I have run loaded cartridges into a sizing die with the decapper removed because they were oversize after seating cast bullets and too tight in chambers.

Never done it with a rifle round, though.

The Lee Factory Crimp die was designed to fix this.

It does a post loading resize, not the greatest for accuracy (in theory at least) as the bullet size ends up depending on the case wall thickness which can vary a bit among brands, but its never been an issue for me and beats making ammo that won't chamber. I use it for all my handgun reloads.

Although I see how bottleneck rounds would be a problem.

I don't know how you could run a case into a die without a shellholder, unless with a whack a mole.

I assume you mean the the case is on top of the shellholder, as opposed to the rim being in the shellholder slot.**

...If sooooo......

- Pull the shellholder out of the ram
- Run the ram up to just below the case.
- Orient the shellholder slot so that the holder top slips onto the case AND the holder bottom slips into the ram slot --- at the same time.

**postscript: Been there. Done that. :fire:

You can,t fix stupid.

My grandson was here and one loaded shell fit real tight and I was trying to bump back the shoulder just a tad. Didn't lube the case and didn't put the correct shell holder in die so it got stuck. CAN YOU IMAGE THAT.
some THINGS YOU CAN FIX BUT STUPID IS NOT ONE OF THEN.
Thanks

Problem is.... The Sizer reduces the neck, not just the sides & shoulder.
...and since you had a bullet in the neck already, that sizer immediately
stuck itself cold.

(Did you finally get it out by using the correct shellholder?)
