Oh Hi Oh
Part of the fun of visting a gun show (for me at least) is hearing some of the "stuff" that vendors tell prospective customers. Heard some great ones this weekend at a local show.

Vendor was showing me a Kel-Tec P3AT. I asked if the gun was the new frame design (a real question, I don't know what the new frame looks like). He said "yeah, this one is the improved frame made by Glock for Kel-Tec".

Rohrbaugh R9: Salesman told onlookers that the gun is made of "the same high-tech material used on the shuttle" (didn't specify what part of the shuttle, or for that matter which shuttle - maybe the shuttle bus???. "They have a 2 to 3 year waiting list for these guns". The kicker was the price tag; $1195.00. I kid you not!

Mini revolver (I assume it was a North American Arms)
"This is the same kind of gun that's carried by Homeland Security agents" - I suppose it could be true.

Not making fun of anyone. I understand a lot of what's heard is tongue-in-cheek and is for show, but I always think it's fun to share them. And granted, I probably ask some dumb questions that just invite dumb/wrong/made-up answers.

Another thing that stood out about this gun show was, there weren't many guns! Lots of Beenie Babies, knives, beef jerkey, home-made jam, clothing, did I mention Beenie Babies...?

I haven't been to a gunshow in a while, mainly because most have become flea markets, and the deals aren't that great. In fact, I only go to one particular show, and that is to buy from a particular reloading vendor.

Anyways my favorite GunShow Stupid Comment has been said by both customers AND Dealers:

*Hefts Desert Eagle 50AE*

"This shoots the same round the Mustang used in WWII to shoot down airplanes!"

:banghead: :uhoh: :scrutiny:

Often when I hear something like this, I just walk away. I figuire if the guy selling the guns doesn't know a darn thing about them, I am more likely to get ripped off in some way so I don't buy from morons as a rule. Of course I often take a quick look around his table before I go to see if he made any stupid mistakes in my favor. Somehow, I have never seen a mistake in my favor from one of these morons, if the price is is way out of whack, it is high and never low. You would think that once in a while, they would underprice something, maybe they are not as bumb as they seem to be. Maybe it is all just a way of making us think we are smarter than the dealer so he has a uperhand in the dealings. In any case, I just walk and find a dealer that is not spouting such trash.

I suspect some of them are very good at playing dumb just so we'll smirk at them and try to take advantage of them. That saidâ„¢, I think most of them actually are awfully dumb.

Some Gun Show Vendors are Flea Show Vendors on the off weekends,,,,
"That's genuine Peoria Pottery, I found it in Peoria, 350 bucks and you can take it home,,,,"

ive run into a few winners at the shows here in Florida.. they never cease to amaze me.. thank god for CdNN and Davidsons..

I was a bit offended at a gun show yesterday. My wife and I were walking around while wearing matching COLT shirts. This one dealer started his sales pitch about how great his Hi-Point 9mm was and how it was the cheapest gun at the show.....I just told him it wasn't anything I'd even use to pistol-whip someone and kept on walking.

Gun show comments

From a dealer: It's the special officer's model.

This in describing a mismatched nickle plated Luger with a very heavy handed polishing job under the plating, presumably to remove the rust pits.

Good thing he didn't try to claim it was Goering's because I have Goering's Luger at home in my desk drawer. It's a mismatched nickle plated ...

I met a gentleman, his wife and his sister, all of whom carried Full-sized Kimber 45s. I know this because they told me that they all carry Full-sized Kimber 45s. In fact they were at the gun show looking for new holsters and carry purses for their Full-sized Kimber 45s. Did I forget to mention that all three of them carried Full-sized Kimber 45s? If I didn't mention the fact that they all carried Full-sized Kimber 45s, then I appologize, but I wouldn't want you to confuse them with people who didn't all carry Full-sized Kimber 45s.

Unfortunately, I was helping a friend man his booth, so I couldn't run away. The conversation lasted at least 10 minutes.

Anybody selling those ExtremeShock 380s that will blow you up and used by the antiterrorist special forces?

I have not been to the big gun show (Crossroads of the West) in years!!
The last time I went, what stood out were all the Nazi flags and White Supremacist stuff that was for sale!! I didn't see many beannie babies, though!!

Mainly, I go to the smaller shows now.
There is not as great a selection, but they field a better class of people!! ;)

I think a lot of those vendors are just trying to make a quick buck. I'd rather do repeat business with folks. Last show I attended had 350 dollar mosin 91-30s that looked a lot like the ones I order for 64 bucks.

At least not all shows have gone to :cuss:

I quit going to shows in Amarillo, TX (pop. around 170,000) about 5 years before I moved away in 2003 because of all the junk tables. I went to the first gun show where I now live in Ada,OK (pop. around 15,000) and was blown away. I saw rarer guns, better prices, a broader variety, and the newest of the new, all in a show that was mabye 1/6 the size of the Amarillo shows.

Don't fret, there is still some hope... :)

"This is the same kind of gun that's carried by Homeland Security agents"

You need to pay better attention. The gun show vendor obviously stated "carried by Homeless Security agents".

At the Puyallup gunshow this past weekend, not a dealer, just a guy trying to impress his friend with his gun knowledge...

"This is a Wildey, but this one's only a .45*. The one Charles Bronson carried in Deathwish was a .450. The .450 model was originally designed to shoot elephants in Africa. It's got more power than a rifle and it's more accurate."

*it was chambered for .45 Winchester Magnum

I to usually try to avoid the gun shows, But this last weekend I decided to go to one! One thing I noticed was that most of the vendors there were dealers that I visit around the charlotte area! None of them had any deals to be had, matter of fact all the prices were the same they have in there stores....but of coarse there was one exception!!!One old gentleman was selling off his personal collection, he was selling a colt delta elite 98%+ for 650, sold for $600. so I still hold out hope that there are some bargains to be had at shows!! :what:

Salesman told onlookers that the gun is made of "the same high-tech material used on the shuttle"
(proper response, with look of horror) "Ohmigod, you mean this gun will blow up, too?"

You lie, I have Goering's Luger, it’s not nickel it’s brushed chrome and the numbers match. Hang on I’ll get it out of the glove box and take some pics….. :neener:

If either of you guys ever want to sell Goering's Luger please let me know.
It would look great in my collection next to Patton's personal Python, Hitlers Glock, Robert E Lee's 1875 Remington and George Washington's Patterson Colt.

Thanks to Gunbrokers stupid 15 minute rule, I just missed out on buying Mussolini's .44 Magnum.

You know of course that the dingo actually did eat that woman's baby.

Wasn't someone trying to sell General Patton's laptop computer at one point? :D

Anybody selling those ExtremeShock 380s that will blow you up and used by the antiterrorist special forces?

I've only seen the 25 ACP versions of this round. I was told (by the guy at the show) that the .380 version was too powerful. I think he mentioned that it blew up a Glock once too. He did say that it would work fine in a Full sized Kimber 45 though, but you had to buy a special chamber insert :neener:
