Nothing wrong with finding a better way.

I use 2 allen wrenches when adjusting or completely removing front sight post. One size works great to push the detent pin down and then another one to spin the post. The long Bondhus ball end type work great and give plenty of room for your hands.

All of mine are tapped all the way through & have a set screw coming up from the bottom to lock the post if I want to. I have never used a front sight tool that worked well enough to justify owning one.
