Stupid Easy Powder Coating Projectiles

westky- about .003". Ive been tumble powder coating with bb's and red HF paint since this thread started last year and have had good results. I like to PC little lee .356 105gr rn bullets for use in 38spl and 380. they drop from the mold at .358 and a coat of powder bumps em up to .3605-.361. When I need to load some up, I just size em to either 356 or 358.

Im just now getting into loading 300blk and have about a thousand 230 and 160gr boolits casted up and powder coated. cant wait to test em out!

Yeah, I love how the extra .001-.003 the PC adds makes it so versatile, so a slightly oversize bore isn't a problem, or you can use the .356 pills for .380, 9mm, and 38/357!

I heard about this technique on another forum: Put 100 boolits and about a teaspoon of powdercoat in a Ziploc baggie. Then, put the baggie in a #5 (the recycling code in the triangle) plastic container, I used one of my bullet bins from my reloading bench...cool whip container will work too. Swirl/slide it around for a few seconds, and the boolits are nicely coated, then pick out with nitrile gloves.

Parchment paper (for baking) also works perfectly for setting the boolits on, just trim it to fit the tray you're using. Doesn't stick, lasts several uses and is cheaper than NSAF. It's usually stocked where the tinfoil is, or might be in the 'baking goods' area.

Here's the before, showing the coated boolits:

And here's the end result. After standing them up, I took a small amount of black PC powder, put it between my hands and rubbed my hands together over the bullets, so they got a small dusting of black...then baked as per the curing schedule for that powder.

I do bullets in the 1000's at a time. I understand the benefits of p.c.ing but I'm more interested in time involved for product out-put. Not for resale, just for me. I can stuff a lot of rounds through a Lee sizer die in the time it takes to pluck bullets out with pliers and set them on a tray.
